YOUR BASKET & STOREHOUSE
In Biblical terms your basket contains the day's provision of nutrients (food) and is made readily accessible to all within your household, including your guests, servants or domestic helpers. The basket provides a ready function of portability in case meal-serving areas require a location change due to weather or other necessary spontaneity. The storehouse prudently provides extended provisioning beyond the day.
Today we still need the deeper understanding of the basket and storehouse mentalities, especially if we are to help others without ourselves' becoming part of the problem. Preparing for good times and bad times has always been central to The Escape Project team's philosophy and logistical planning. In 1993 during the early years of the Project's planning, it was not uncommon to incur mockery and indignation from those who contended with the age-old concept of prudent planning for disaster preparation and relief. We empathically recalibrated our understanding of Noah and the Ark.
In the years following, scores of traumatic environmental disruptions, manifesting in the guise of tornadic, hurricane, drought and seismic activity, have plundered unfathomable numbers of lives and properties. These events have since forced many to see, know and understand that prudent planning for the future is not an option but rather a mandate or command.
Nowadays The Escape Project encounters much less ridicule and mockery for its efforts. Some of those who once criticized the project have since become regular contributors of time, energy and other valuable resources.
