BIBLICAL HOLY DAYS & FEASTS OF THE LORD, YHVH
Leviticus 23
"And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the Feasts of the Lord, which ye shall proclaim to be Holy Convocations, even these are my feasts." Leviticus 23:1-2
There are seven different Holy Days to be observed unto God every year for a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings (Leviticus 23 - ref.v.14). The first, also ordained by the Fourth Commandment (Deuteronomy 5:12-15), is the regular weekly Sabbath Day, which begins at sundown on Yom Shishi, "Friday" (preparation day), and ends on the Shabbat, "Saturday," at sundown. The second and third Feast, celebrated in the first month "Abib," are Pesach (Passover) and the Feast of Unleavened Bread: a sign of our deliverance from bondage/sin (past, present, and future). The fourth Feast, in the month "Sivan," is Shavuot (Feast of Firstfruits, or Pentecost), a thanksgiving unto the Lord for His blessings. In the seventh month "Ethanim," there are the last three Feasts: the fifth is Teruwah (The Feast of Trumpets) - signifying something's coming; the sixth Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) - the only true "National Day of Prayer;" the seventh Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles) & Last Great Day - the Biblical "Harvest" Feast, symbolic of our spiritual journey in the present day wilderness, the harvesting of our souls, the Messiah's Milleneum/1,000 year reign of peace and Judgement Day (Last Great Day).
Additionally, two other months bear special significance. These are Chislev, the ninth month, in which Hannukkah (The Feast of the Dedication) may be observed, and Adar, the twelfth month, wherein Purim (The Feast of Esther) takes place.
We hope you enjoy these Sabbaths and Feasts of the Lord. In keeping them according to the commandment, you obtain a learning experience with blessings beyond what you could ask or think (Deuteronomy 14:1-28; Ephesians 3:20). For as King David said in Psalm 119:96:
"I have seen an end of all perfection: but thy commandment is exceeding broad."
Indeed!!
