THE ESCAPE PROJECT'S E.O.I. ON U.S. GOVERNMENT TABLE
The Escape Project has been awaiting a Government response on the group's formal Expression of Interest (E.O.I.), e-mailed to the U.S. Department of Transportation's Maritime Administration (MARAD) Legal Department on October 30, 2008. The Escape Project has submitted a thorough plan of logistic particulars that would allow for a civilian disaster-response acquisition and reutilization of six surface vessels over the next two years from MARAD's non-retention East and West Coast fleets.
"One of the main problems delaying a definitive legal response to The Escape Project is the new changeover in presidential administration," said Director of Operations for The Escape Project, Carlton L. Keith. "We are expecting a positive response from the Deputy Maritime Administrator, James E. Caponiti, as soon as the new administrator has had an opportunity to become familiar with our pending proposal. We have been working diligently with MARAD for about five years to put this program together," said Keith. So far The Escape Project team has logged well over 24,000 miles of travel in seventeen countries and territories in order to acquire the education necessary to operate as a civilian disaster-response and humanitarian entity.
"As it now stands," Keith continued, "the demand for our work could not be greater at a time when MARAD and USDOT need to reduce their overstock of obsolete non-retention ship inventories and retool themselves to spur economic growth through a renewed emphasis on the congressionally-mandated Intermodal and Magnetic Lev transportation systems." Keith further explained that The Escape Project proposal is multi-synergistic towards accomplishing a plethora of facilitators that will potentially help the Department of Transportation and MARAD accomplish their planned objectives.
Keith finished by saying, "We are excited to be able to do our part in America's economic recovery, as well as to help connect these dots of immediate opportunity. You know it's a good deal when everyone who participates is a winner."
